Welcome to the Temple Beth Torah website. I am so proud to be in my second year as President of the Board of Directors of Temple Beth Torah. I want to share with you who we are, what our congregation values, and some of the exciting programs that are available at Temple Beth Torah (TBT).
Our congregation was founded in 1972 by local families who longed for a building to call their Jewish home and a religious school for their children. Since then we have maintained a community engaged in service to others. We share Shabbat and Holiday services and support for one another in times of need. We have a vibrant religious school for our youngest generation (from ages 2-13). We recently made significant improvements to the exterior and interior of our synagogue supported by a major fund raising campaign to honor our 50th anniversary. We are so comfortable in our Temple and are so grateful to our members for contributing so generously. We take great pride in having provided a Jewish home to the local communities for the last 52 years. Thank you!
So, who are we today? We are a welcoming Conservative congregation, led by Rabbi Mimi Micner. She has been our spiritual, educational, pastoral and social justice leader for the past five years. Our congregants gather enthusiastically for her adult education courses (on ZOOM), and for the Shir Shabbat (musical) services which she leads every 6 weeks.
We are young families in our “Tots and Parents” programs. We are women who love Sisterhood and all the activities that it offers. We are members who love the beauty, tranquility and community of Shabbat services. We love to learn with the Rabbi in Torah Study on Saturday mornings. We engage with Tikkun Olam projects. The current Social Justice and Caring Committees have participants who are working to change the world (one local project at a time) and are supporting our congregants in need through meals, companionship and transportation. The Little Free Food Pantry meets the need for quick food items for individuals and families in our area. All of these happen because we are a congregation that loves to “do”. We welcome new members to join in that “doing”.
